Powerful Techniques for Changing Your Trading Psychology by Dr Brett Steenbarger

I have seen many trading webinars in my time and this one from Dr Brett Steenbarger, is definitely in my top 3. Of course, I do admit to being a huge fan of Brett’s work but even so, this webinar went way beyond my own expectations.

It’s a must for any developing trader.

This wasn’t a “how to fix your problems” webinar but “how to develop as a trader”. What skills you need, how to develop those skills, the importance of taking a multimodal approach to learning to trade so you are absorbed in trading. The section on increasing your ability to stay intensely focused was something new to me and I’ll certainly be giving those drills a try.

The background to this is that Dr Brett Steenbarger has been working with professional traders for many years. He’s published a number of books on trading psychology and he coaches traders in  hedge funds, proprietary trading firms and investment banking groups. For retail traders, it’s a great opportunity to have insights into how that world works and how they see the trader development process.

The webinar is audio-only, the first half, Brett covers 3 Powerful Techniques to change your trading psychology, covering:

  • How to diagnose your trading psychology problems
  • How to stop doing the wrong things in trading
  • How to do more of the right things in trading
  • Stages of development in trading expertise and how to progress more quickly.

The second half is pure Q&A, a number of key issues were raised by traders in the room – many of them asking for solutions they are currently facing. Dr Steenbarger gave us as much insight during the Q&A as he did during his presentation.

If you enjoy the webinar, be sure to check out Dr Steenbarger’s blog TraderFeed – it’s one of the longest running and most popular trading blogs on the internet.
